We bring to you the shortest managerial tenures in Premier League history.
The English Premier League is widely regarded as the world’s most competitive and challenging league. That’s one of the reasons their managers don’t last for so long.
The Premier League’s toughness stems from the opportunity for every team to challenge any other in the English top division.
Managers’ hiring and firing is part and parcel of the Premier League culture.
Even Opta analysis provides us with the next Premier League coach or manager to be sacked by their club’s responsible authority.
Every Premier League manager has a certain percentage to be sacked by their club!
However, the one with the highest percentage to be sacked has more than a chance to be fired from his job.

In consideration of that, we take a look at the 17 Premier League shortest managerial tenures.
Before taking a look at that, we must be aware that no one in the list has served for at least half a year in their job.
- Garry Monk – Swansea.
Swansea manager, Garry Monk has been in his position for 137 days. Monk was sacked on Wednesday, 9th December, 2015, following his side’s home defeat 3-0 to Leicester City.
In his managerial tenure at Swansea, Monk secured a single win in 11 Premier League matches.
Following Monk’s poor run of results at Swansea, Swansea’s chairman at the moment, Huw Jenkins, quoted saying that, “The decision to part company with Monk has been made reluctantly and with a heavy heart”.
- Chris Hutchings – Wigan Athletics.
Chris Hutchings served as the manager of the English Premier League side, Wigan Athletic, for 127 days since his appointment.
Hutching’s dismissal came after a poor run of results. During his time as a manager at Wigan, he registered zero wins in three successive months.
He never won a football match in a row for 6 matches. His dismissal as manager came after a 2-0 home defeat to Chelsea.
He had a 24% winning percentage at the club, based on Opta analysis data. Hutching’s managerial tenure at Wigan came to an end on Monday, November 5, 2007.

- Remi Garde – Aston Villa.
Garde leaves Aston Villa after 126 days of his managerial tenure at the Midland club. According to Aston Villa’s club statement on 30th March 2016, Garde left Aston Villa by mutual consent.
The French technician has been in the position at Aston Villa for at least four months since his appointment.
He replaced Tim Sherwood and failed to inspire his bosses. In his time spell at Aston Villa, he led his side in 18 games, registering 2 wins, 6 draws and 10 defeats in the Premier League. Garde had a 10 per cent winning rate.
- Allan Pardew- West Bromwich Albion
Pardew’s managerial tenure at West Brom was too short. He served as the baggies manager for only 111 days since his official appointment. Pardew parted ways with Westbrom on 2nd April 2018 following a poor run of results.
Pardew’s sacking came after the club failed to win a football match in the Premier League following six consecutive defeats. During his time at the club, he registered 14 per cent of winning the English Premier League match.
- Steven Wigley – Southampton.
Wigley managed the Southern Coast Saints for 107 days. In 2004, Steven Wigley was asked to take over as the Saints’ head coach following the departure of Gordon Strachan.
Since then, he has led his side to win one match in 14 games of his managerial career at Southampton. Wigley was dismissed by the Saints on 14th December 2004.
12- Claudio Ranieri – Fulham
He managed the cottagers for 106 days. Ranieri led Leicester to lift the Premier League trophy two seasons before his appointment at the London-based club.
He managed Fulham in 17 games between November 2018 and February 2019.
He recorded 3 wins, 3 draws and 11 defeats. Claudio Ranieri had a 17.6 per cent win percentage at Fulham.

- Tony Adams – Portsmouth.
Manager Tony Adams stayed at Portsmouth for 106 days. He is taking over from Harry Redknapp, who left the club to join Tottenham. Pompey sacked Adams following a poor run of results.
He was dismissed on the second day of September, 2009, following a defeat against Liverpool.
In his time at the club, he managed the club to win 4 matches out of 22.
- Nathan Jones – Southampton.
Manager Nathan Jones has remained in his post as Saints manager for 94 days. He is among the shortest Premier League managerial tenures.
The Welshman was in charge at Southampton for 14 matches, registering only a single win.
He lost 8 successive games in the Premier League. Jones has a 12.5 winning percentage during his short spell at Southampton. He was fired by the club on 12th February 2023.

- Terry Connor – Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Terry Conner was in charge as Wolves manager for 91 days. Manager Terry Connor had a zero-win percentage as Wolverhampton Wanderers manager.
He won none of the 13 English Premier League games while in charge, having a record of 9 defeats and 4 draws. He was dismissed by Wolves on 3rd September 2012.
- Quique Sanchez Flores – Watford.
Manager Quiquie Sanchez Flores was sacked after 85 days in his appointment.
He experienced the shortest managerial tenure following a poor run of results at the club.
During his tenure, Quique Sanchez Flores won a single Premier League match out of the 10 he managed the club.
He had a 16.7 per cent win percentage at Watford. He was sacked on the first day of December 2019.
- Bob Bradley – Swansea.
American tactician Bob Bradley served as the Swansea manager for 84 days. His managerial reign at the club ended after just 11 games in charge. His last match at Swansea was on Boxing Day when he lost 4-1 to Westham.
During his short tenure at the club, Bradley had an 18.2 per cent chance of winning a football match in the English Premier League.
He had 0.73 points per game. Due to this poor run of results, he was sacked immediately after the Boxing Day of 2016.
- Frank De Boer – Crystal Palace
The Dutchman Frank De Boer had a short spell at the London-based club, Crystal Palace.
He spent 77 days in charge at the club. He is one of the football managers with a disastrous spell in the Premier League history at Crystal Palace.
In his 77 days, he managed Crystal Palace in 4 matches. And all of them were lost, conceding 7 goals without scoring a single goal.
His last match at the club came after a 1-0 loss to Burnley. He was dismissed on 11th September, 2017.

- Rene Meulensteen- Fulham
His managerial reign at Fulham FC lasted for 75 days since his official appointment. He was appointed to be a Fulham manager on December 1, 2013 and left the club on Valentine’s Day 2014.
The Dutchman won 4 out of 17 matches at Fulham FC. He had 23. 6 win percentage at the cottagers.
- Igor Tudor – Tottenham Hotspur.
He is the latest manager to be sacked after a short spell at the club. He was in charge for 44 days. Igor Tudor was appointed to replace manager Thomas Frank on Valentine’s Day of 2026 to help the club to avoid the relegation threat.

In his time at the North Londoners, the Croatian lost 5 out of 7 matches of his managerial career at Tottenham.
He won none of 5 Premier League matches he managed Spurs. He registered 14. 3 per cent of winning a football match at the club.

- Les Reed – Charlton Athletics.
Manager Les Reed served as Charlton Athletic’s manager for 41 days only. In his time at the club, he got 4 points in seven matches.
His cup defeat against Wycombe Wanderers saw him leave the club after being dismissed on 24th December, 2006.
- Ange Postecoglou – Nottingham Forest.
Ange left Forest after 39 days of his reign as the manager. He was appointed on 9th September 2025 and was dismissed 39 days later.
It’s believed that Ange was sacked 17 minutes after leading his side to a loss against Chelsea.
In his managerial tenure at Forest, he had undergone a winless run of 8 out of 8 matches. He had a zero per cent win rate at the club before his dismissal.

- Sam Allardyce – Leeds United.
Sam was appointed to be a manager at Leeds United on 3rd May 2023 before being sacked on 2nd June 2023. He holds the record of the most Premier League managers who didn’t last for so long in Premier League history.
Big Sam’s spell at the club came to an end after failing to save the club from Premier League relegation. While he took over, the club had 4 games remaining.

Sam helped the club to secure a draw in a single game and lost the other three. He had zero win percentage at Leeds United.
